Senate Bill 260: Comprehensive Lupus Management and Treatment Act

The Philippine Rheumatology Association, led by President Dr Auxencio Lucero, together with the Hope for Lupus Foundation, contributed to the deliberation of Senate Bill No. 260, known as the Comprehensive Lupus Management and Treatment Act. This bill aims to establish a nationwide framework for addressing systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in the Philippines.
Provisions of the Bill
The proposed legislation directs the Department of Health (DOH) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to conduct annual surveys, advance research, and maintain databases related to lupus cases. It also introduces programs for early detection and screening, public education campaigns, patient support networks, and continuing education for healthcare professionals.
